This Sunday, Joel Owen continues our new series "This is Our King" as we study the book of Mark. Please prepare by reading Mark 3 & 4.

Wow! What a start we had last week to this new series in Mark. This week as we continue “This Is Our King,” our worship set again follows who Jesus is, and how we respond to Him.

We begin with “Forever Reign” by Hillsong, declaring that Jesus is the King who reigns forever.“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations.” -Daniel 4:34

From there, “Above All” by Michael W. Smith reminds us that Christ is above every power and authority, yet He willingly humbled Himself and went to the cross for us. “He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even to death on a cross.” -Philippians 2:8

“Indescribable” by Chris Tomlin turns our attention to the greatness of our King. Creation itself points us toward His glory. “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” -Psalm 19:1

That leads us into “Majesty” by Delirious?, where we simply stop and stand in awe of who He is.“Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty.” -1 Chronicles 29:11

Finally, we close with “You Are My King (Amazing Love)” by Chris Tomlin which moves us from declaring who Jesus is to personally responding to Him. The King who reigns above all is also the King who has called us to follow Him. “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” -Mark 8:34

He is above all. He is worthy of our awe. He is our King. Can’t wait to worship with you all this week.

Oikos Church Update:

We sent out our church plant, Oikos Church, in July. They had their first public service last Sunday at Warrior’s Path Park! It was a great time of worship. Oikos gathers in house churches three weeks each month and holds a public worship service on the first Sunday of the month. We’re excited to celebrate this new beginning with them!

Thank you to those of you who served that day so the Oikos team could connect with guests. If you’re willing to serve the first Sunday of each month – helping with setup, greeting people etc – let Kyle or a staff member know.

Kairos Ministry Weekend Update

Kairos #46 is over…. but the story is just beginning. We had a lot of hurdles and changes to overcome. This was not a normal Kairos weekend. What looked impossible at times did not stop our Lord from showing up and bringing His mercy and grace into a very dark and lonely place. This weekend was life-changing for many, and Jesus met them where they were. We couldn’t bring in food from the outside, and we had to have store-bought cookies, not homemade. Plus, there were some new rules at the prison which cost us lots of time with these men. Such a small thing as cookies and the spoken word of God split the darkness. Men asked to be prayed for, and God‘s light filled hearts and souls. Many walls came down. Thank you Grace Fellowship Church for the 137 dozen cookies, and for the many prayers that made the difference in inmates lives. Seeds were planted and God‘s glory was granted. Again thank you so much -  Tim Cornett.

The GFC Global Missions Team would like to thank the church for the incredible turnout at the Grace Missions Banquet. We would also like to thank Nathan and Jessica Gaude for providing a wonderful international meal.  If you did not receive a missionary passport, they are still available in the church hallway.  The passport is a wonderful way to become more familiar with our missionaries and is also intended to serve as a prayer guide.  

There is still an opportunity to give to provide Bibles for GFC missionaries to use in their ministry. Many people around the world still lack access to God's Word due to government restrictions, poverty, language barriers, or persecution. Our hope is to provide Bibles in at least 8 languages to 5 different countries. You can donate on the GFC website, app, or offering box or by clicking the QR code above or on the flyer in the hallway.  Select or indicate "Grace Missions Banquet Fundraiser."  

Also, at the banquet, there were opportunities for next steps for missions that GFC members can take a separate corresponding survey.  Both of these will be available in the Gathering Area.  Please, if you haven't already, pray about how God is calling you to global missions, complete the Next Steps survey, and put it into the offering box.

Would you like to serve with our prayer team? There are a couple of different ways to serve at GFC.

UPDATE: The Intercessory Prayer Group meets Thursdays at 12:30pm in Kingsport. Anyone is welcome to come and join in and pray. 

Also, the Prayer Team serve Sundays after each service as they meet and pray with members or visitors who are in need of prayer after each service. There are currently openings to serve.

Book Study on "Remembering the Forgotten God" by Francis Chan

This study began on September 14 and meets on Monday evenings at the church at 6:30pm. Francis Chan issues a compelling invitation to understand, embrace and follow the Spirit of the living God. Upcoming Precept Study on Judges

Ladies, join us for a Monday morning Bible study on Judges beginning October 19 from 10 - 11:30 am in the Gathering area. Nothing has changed from the days of the Judges - people still do what is right in their own eyes. Absolutes are shoved aside and the result is bondage to sin. Only God's truths and moral principles bring peace and freedom from bondage. Join us as we study the book of Judges! Sign up in the hallway. Men's BetterMan Study on "Loving God's Woman, God's Way"

You are invited to join us for another BetterMan Study on “Loving God’s Woman, God’s Way.”

We will discuss the Biblical principles that guide men to protect, honor, and care for the women God has placed in their lives—whether wives, daughters, or sisters in Christ. We will discover that protecting and serving God’s woman is not simply a masculine instinct, but a God-given responsibility modeled after Christ Himself.

This five-week study runs each Sunday, from October 4 – November 1. The class meets at GFC from 9:00 – 10:15 am each Sunday in the Gathering Area. All materials will be provided.
