What's Happening

October is

pastor Apprecation Month

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, a time set aside each year to honor and give thanks for our servant-leaders who give, care, and serve us and our communities in remarkable ways.

How exactly should we celebrate them? They do so much for us…more than we ever know or realize on a daily and even moment-by-moment basis. How can we show them that we appreciate what they do, but also who they are to us and so many others?

We should stay in a posture of prayer and fasting for our servant-leaders all year. Ask the Spirit to lead you as you pray for each one in these and other ways:

*Pray for their spiritual walk and that they find joy and sufficiency in Christ alone. Pray for wisdom to lead and continual renewal by the Holy Spirit as they seek God’s presence and growth.

*Pray they love their families well and lead in their homes in a Christlike way. Pray for these pastoral families who endure a lot of sacrifice in this calling. Pray for each family member by name.

*Pray for wisdom as they lead the body of Christ and GFC into what God has for our faith family and community.

*Pray as they disciple to make other disciples and as they live their lives as a living sacrifice and model of the Gospel.

Sunday, October 26, we will recognize our full time ministry staff here at GFC. We will be praying for our servant-leaders in both services. Also, there will be a table set up in the hallway that Sunday to drop off notes of encouragement and appreciation.

Together

This summer and fall, we are focusing on reaching, growing, playing, serving, worshipping, and planting... TOGETHER!

Serve together: October 31

How can you serve your community during Halloween? If you live in a “high impact” area where you get lots of people coming to your door for candy, please also include an invitation card to our church! We will provide cards for you to give away to families when they come to trick or treat. Consider inviting someone from your Life Group who won’t have a lot of foot traffic at their house to join you for the night.

Do you live in a “medium impact” area where you’ll have some trick or treaters, but probably not be overwhelmed? Consider having an activity in your driveway! One of our leaders has a fire pit and allows kids to make s’mores when they come by. Also, give them an invitation card to GFC that we will provide you!

Do you live in a “low impact” area where kids don’t come to your door? Join a friend from church or your Life Group who has a lot of foot traffic and have fun with them for the night handing out candy. Have fun and shine the light of Jesus this Halloween!

If doing Halloween related events isn’t your thing, join others in the community at the DB vs Science Hill game in Johnson City that night!

Worship together: November 29

A church wide night of music and worship is happening at GFC on Saturday, November 29 at 5pm.

Plant together: 2026

The Lord is preparing a team from GFC to plant a church in 2026 in the Kingsport area. Be praying and fasting for the Holy Spirit's filling, leading and power for those involved.
