GFC Staff Updates
Join us in Welcoming Tim Blankenship - GFC's new Director of Grace Students
For the past year, we have been looking for someone to serve as the Director of Grace Students as Kyle McHolland steps into the role of planting Oikos Church. We're excited to let you know we introduced our new Director of Grace Students this past Sunday morning! Tim and his wife, Melanie, have 3 children and we look forward to having them join the work of making disciples at GFC!
Associate Pastor Andy Malcolm's Sabbatical
Hi GFC!
Our Elders have policies in place for members of our Staff Team to take Sabbaticals at different intervals of service here at GFC. If you’re not familiar with that term, it’s like Sabbath, but instead of one day, it’s an extended period of rest. The purpose of a Sabbatical is to help keep people fresh and passionate for ministry. My family is celebrating 10 years of ministry at GFC and will be taking Sabbatical time this summer. Our Elders have provided for me to take 6 weeks away (May 15-July 27) from my daily ministry to focus on rest, to refocus on areas God is leading us as a family and a church, to spend quality time with my family and to accomplish some personal spiritual renewal so I’m ready to lead for the next ministry season.
During this Sabbatical time, I will not be in the office, answering calls or responding to my email. If you need someone to serve a need that arises in your life, please call the church office and we will make sure one of our Elders, Staff Team, Deacons or Life Group Leaders responds to you as quickly as possible. I love that our church structure is not built solely around the Staff; we have shared responsibility and great leaders and servants in a variety of roles in our church who can serve you and take care of you.
Thank you for loving our Staff Team and their familes well and for allowing these times away to refresh when we hit designated intervals of ministry life. My family and I will miss you and will be praying for you until we return June 28. - Andy Malcolm
Fasting and prayer are powerful ways to seek God’s strength, wisdom, and protection over our pastors as they faithfully lead and shepherd the church. By setting aside a day to intercede, we support their spiritual well-being and surround their ministry and family with God’s grace and guidance.
For an additional week, on the hallway sign up table, you will see a sign up sheet where you can write your name on one or more dates to commit to praying and fasting for our Associate Pastor, Andy Malcolm, his wife Julia and his daughters, Ellie & Analia while he is away on sabbatical May15-June 27. More than 1 person can sign up per day listed. If you are unable to sign up, but want to be added to the list, please email the church office at contact@gracekingsport.org or contact the church office by text or call at 423-245-3616.
Please see some specific areas of prayer Andy has given us to pray for:
*Lay aside ministry mindset and desire to achieve/perform
*Experience and refresh himself in his relationship with Jesus
*Increase his faith
*Plan quality time and a unique experience with each family member
*Feel rested on a regular basis – physically, mentally, spiritually
*Pray for pastoral mindset

Foster Care Awareness month
While a priority is always to recruit foster parents who will open their homes to the more than 8,000 kids in foster care in Tennessee, we also realize that they MUST have a network of support to succeed. Families who know they are seen and valued are able to keep their homes open longer and continue to accept new placements as needs arise.
We all have a part to play and we want you to FIND YOUR YES. We invite you to get involved as an individual or part of a larger community of support for vulnerable kids and those who embrace them. Click Here for more information.
You can pick up your copy of the May Monthly Prayer Calendar and also the Foster Care Awareness Month Prayer on the table in the church hallway.
GFC's Aisha Ward is passionate about foster care and adoption and she would love to talk to you further and answer any questions you might have! Contact her at 901-338-5221 for additional information.

Would you like to serve with our prayer team? There are a couple of different ways to serve at GFC.

If interested in serving on our prayer team or if you have any questions, please reach out to Ruth Jordan at 202-680-8963 and she will look forward to talking with you.
