What's Happening

Food Pantry & donations

We were challenged in Joel’s recent sermon series to put our faith in action in a variety of ways:

1. Have a yard sale.
2. Give to our benevolence fund through our app, website or giving boxes - designate "Benevolence Fund."
3. Donate pennies.
4. Donate non-perishable goods for our short term food pantry for those who attend GFC.

A shelf is set up in the Gathering Area where you can donate non-perishable food items (for instance, it helps to donate items that would make a full meal and not just 20 cans of beans) and any pennies you collect. You can drop them off on Sundays or during the week during normal office hours 9-4, M-TH.

Those in need due to the SNAP shortage, loss of employment, etc. can come to the church Gathering Area on Mondays anytime from 12pm to 2pm to receive assistance from our food pantry.  Please don't hesitate to come and let us serve you during this challenging time.

Donate to the harris family in Jamaica

Fitz Harris shared about his family that lives in Jamaica being severely impacted by Hurricane Melissa. Please keep them and their community and church in prayer as they rebuild after the devastation they endured. A GoFundMe link has been set up to receive donations. This is the most direct and simplest way you can support the Harris family. All proceeds will go directly to the family to help their homes and business that were wiped out, provide safe drinking water and help in additional ways they need.  They are greatly appreciative of any generosity offered! Gfc's Christmas devotional

Extra, extra! Read all about it! Make sure to pick up your copy of the 2025 GFC Christmas Devotional this Sunday or this week at church. This is the 11th anniversary of our GFC Christmas Devotional. One of the things that makes this devotional special is that people who are part of our faith family write the daily devotionals that lead us from December 1 until Christmas Day. Pick up your copy this Sunday and grab an extra one to give to someone in your oikos, a co-worker, a family member, or friend.

Church Rec men's Basketball

Sign up to be a part of this winter season's men's rec basketball team! Practices will start in December or January and games will start in January. We hope to have as many men 18+ older sign up as possible, knowing that not everyone can be at every game to help us field our team. Cost is minimal and will cover league fees. You can pay on our app or website and designate for Men's Basketball or put cash or a check in the giving boxes at the church with the same designation. Sign up in the church hallway by Wednesday, December 10. More info to come. Contact Joel Owen for additional details.

Explore bible study

The Explore Bible Study is designed to introduce what we call "World Christian Habits." World Christians are people who understand God's heart for the world and strategically live their lives in such a way that wherever they are and whatever they do, they are working to see Him glorified among all nations. This study will begin Sunday, January 4th and go through Sunday, February 20th during 2nd service. Anyone is invited who wants to be a better world Christian and discover how you can help reach those unreached with the gospel. The books are $10 and will be provided as the class begins. Sign up for the study in the hallway. Please contact Jean Floyd at 423-276-8217 or jean.floyd@sim.org for more information.

Explore is a seven-lesson study for small groups or individuals covering the basics of God's word, world, and work, helping you to gain a heart for the nations.

GOD'S WORD: Journey from Genesis to Revelation seeing the recurring theme of God desiring worship from ALL people and mobilizing His people to be ambassadors for His name.

GOD'S WORLD: Lesson 2 provides a quick overview of the major (THUMB) religious blocks, defines unreached people groups, and highlights the task remaining in helping all people have access to the Gospel.
