What's Happening
adopt a mission follow-up
Sunday, February 8, was Adopt-A-Mission Sunday. We encouraged everyone to adopt a mission for 2026. You can PRAY, GO, GIVE or ENCOURAGE the trip/mission you adopt. There is a table set up in the Gathering Area that gives additional details about each mission and trip. Please pick up a Pray/Go/Give/Encourage card for each mission; pray through these and then turn the cards back into the basket on that table.
International Trip to Kenya/Middle East
In partnership with International Sports Academy and GFC sponsored missionaries.“The International Sports Academy uses the tool of sports to connect as-risk youth all over the world with long-term mentors to change their lives, now and for eternity.”

We will spend the week building relationships, serving, and sharing God’s word with ISA partners. Then our team will travel to the middle east to visit and support Joel and Elizabeth Peterson and family. GFC has partnered with the Peterson family since 2017. We are excited to send a team to visit them for the first time.
When: March 10th-25th
Give: There are various needs associated with this trip ranging from providing Bibles, balls and other resources for our ISA partners, gifts for missionary kids in the middle east, and trip expenses for team members.

LYNCH, KENTUCKY
We will travel up to Lynch, KY, April 9-11, supporting the Meridzo Center as they provide a number of services to the surrounding communities. Meridzo operates a kid's camp, half-way houses, food and clothing ministries, business ventures and a cafe. Our focus is to support Meridzo by doing a variety of repair or service projects for their ministries. The event is usually in April and you can stay the night at their facilities or come up for the day.

CENTRAL ASIA VBS in ASHEVILLE
Every year GFC takes a team to a conference near Asheville to put on a VBS event for kids whose parents serve in Central Asia. You will have your lodging mostly paid for and just be responsible for transportation and food. The trip will be July 12-15.
We have a great time encouraging and discipling the kids with various lessons, games and activities and get to see what's happening at times in the conference as well.
For more information, contact Tim or Melissa Pitts with any questions at pittsfamily8@gmail.com or by phone/text 870-384-4021 (Melissa), 423-863-5793 (Tim).
INTERNATIONAL TRIP TO EL SALVADOR
Global Health Outreach and the congregation of Cimiento Estable and Pastor Rene Meija invite you to join them this summer in Mejicanos, El Salvador. This area has beautiful people to whom God is wanting to show His love and to tell about His blessed Son. Poverty and a large population of people all mix in this city within the outskirts of San Salvador. God is inviting you to step away from the comfortable and to move from being a distant observer to being a participant in His ministry of reconciliation! The trip will be July 25-August 2.
Varinka and Gordon Williams have gone to El Salvador for 12 years now and always see God show up in powerful ways! He puts His team together and He accomplishes His purposes. Saying yes to God’s calling is absolutely the best way to spend a summer!
You do not have to have any medical training to come and serve and have a memorable experience. Most of the people who go on the trip are non-medical and can work in the eyeglass clinic, triage, sometimes help with pharmacy, sometimes work with children, go on home visits, etc. Nurses, nursing students, pre-medical students, and doctors actually see patients and can also work in most other areas of the clinic. Families and teens are welcome.
Please contact us (text us first) if you have any questions: 865-385-3790 (Gordon) and 865-385-3605 (Varinka).
SOMA ASHEVILLE
SOMA Asheville is a church plant on the west side of Asheville that we have partnered with for a number of years. Their pastor used to be on our staff. Our role is to encourage their congregation as they serve the local community and provide practical needs for them to do so.
Last year, in the spring, we provided teaching for their kids as parents spent a weekend in gospel training. In the summer, we attended one of their Sunday afternoon worship events. Then in the fall, we provided a BBQ cookout for the Narcotics Anonymous group that meets in their same building.
This is a great trip for teens and adults to learn how to provide practical needs, plus learn of the joys and struggles of a church plant in a hard to reach area. We hope to do a few projects for them in 2026 and there are always day trips for just a few hours.
Andy Malcolm is leading this project and if you have any questions about this adventure, please contact him at andy@gracekingsport.org or (423) 863-3085.
INTERNATIONAL TRIP TO GEORGIA
Rachel Hubbard will lead a mission trip to Georgia which is (in Eastern Europe and Western Asia) in early October for 10 - 14 days (dates not set yet because airline tickets have not been bought). The main purpose will be to serve with our missionaries Joy and Kerem, who were here recently sharing with us about their ministry. We will be serving them in ways that help them and their ministry. More details to come. Contact Rachel Hubbard at (503) 432-9112 for additional information.

Foundations Apologetics class
Being able to defend our faith is foundational to being an active follower of Jesus, especially in today's society. Covering topics like "There is no absolute truth," "If God is good, why is there evil in this world?" and "Science proves that man is a product of evolution and natural selection" - this apologetics class will help guide you in how to have conversations with others about the Christian faith and how to answer questions from skeptics and unbelievers. Also, you might find out it's not as difficult as you might think!
This class is facilitated by Lauren Gibson and Ryan Gardner. We will be using Searching for Proof and Faith as the basis for the class. This will allow everyone to have a resource at home once the class is complete! Please purchase your book by clicking here.
Class will meet every Sunday during 2nd service at 10:45am from February 22 - March 29 in the Gathering Area. Please sign up on our app calendar or in the church hallway.
